Spotted a few years ago on various Lounge compilations with the track London In The Rain, Variety Lab are back today with Team Up!, a 12-track record composed with the help of a number of outstanding artists. Yael offers her version of Love Is A Bird, originally a Variety Lab demo that has gradually evolved, first in the expert hands of Cascadeur, then by David Bartholomé on a Sharko album.

Robert Wyatt is a truly unique artist. Ever since Rock Bottom, his 1974 masterpiece, invariably listed among the most outstanding albums in the history of rock, the singer has inspired nothing but respect and passion.

Conceived as part of a collaboration between Robert Wyatt and Daniel Yvinec specially for the ONJ, this programme pays homage to the universe and protean personality of the singer. In addition to Wyatt himself, Yvinec has invited other well known voices to offer their own versions of a repertoire consisting of Wyatt originals and songs memorably interpreted by the singer.

Yael sings on 2 songs : "Just As You Are" in duet with french singer Arno and on "Shipbuilding"

Yael participera à la cérémonie des Victoires du Jazz 2009 qui se tiendra à Paris le mardi 1er septembre 2009 à 20h30
Les Victoires du Jazz 2009 seront retransmises le vendredi 4 septembre autour de minuit sur l’antenne nationale de France 3 et sur France Inter le dimanche 6 septembre de 23h à minuit (un « Ascenseur pour le jazz » de Julien Delli Fiori spécial Victoires).
Après ses concerts dédiés au répertoire de la chanteuse et songwriter canadienne Joni Mitchell (à Coutances et Vienne cet été, voir les news du 15 mai 2009) Yael rendra en direct un hommage haut en couleurs à l’icône folk des sixties, associée pour l’occasion à un all stars du jazz tricolore (dont Stéphane Belmondo, Eric Legnini et Dré Pallemaerts). Les Victoires ne pouvaient passer à côté de cette rencontre et création pleine de promesses.

à noter également que l'album "Around Robert Wyatt" auquel Yael a collaboré (voir news du 20 aout 2009) est nominé dans la categorie "album jazz instrumental de l'année"
